A high school diploma is important. But it should be just the start.
Most young adults need post-secondary education to provide the opportunity for a better life — in fact, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that 90 percent of new high-wage jobs will require higher education.
Valley of the Sun United Way’s Destination Graduation program ensures young people get their high school diploma and are on the path to post-secondary education. But to prepare them further, our ASPIRE program connects Maricopa County youth ages 14 to 21, with the skills and resources to realize career dreams.
ASPIRE provides a pathway for young adults — whether they are in high school or have dropped out. We work with our partners at Friendly House, Jobs for Arizona’s Graduates, Tumbleweed Center for Youth Development and Arizona Women’s Education and Employment to provide career coaching Valleywide. ASPIRE provides case managers who work one-on-one with students and families to ensure high school graduation, trade apprenticeships, job training or enrollment in college in targeted communities.
Your support of our efforts to prepare young adults for their future is critical.
