ADOPT-A-POOL-FENCE PROGRAM CELEBRATES 700TH POOL FENCE INSTALLATION

The United Phoenix Firefighters Association and Valley of the Sun United Way will hold a press conference at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 21 to celebrate the 700th pool fence installation through the Adopt-a-Pool-Fence Program. In addition to raising awareness of the program and encouraging qualified individuals to apply, the Firefighters Association urges all individuals to be vigilant around pools this summer to help keep children safe.

700th Pool Fence Recipients
WHY:
Drowning is recognized as a leading cause of accidental death among children in Arizona under the age of five and we know a properly installed and maintained pool fence can help save lives. In fact, pool fence installations through the Adopt-a-Pool-Fence program are an aggressive and proactive approach to preventing child drownings throughout Maricopa County.
The program is available to families who do not have a pool fence and meet the following criteria: demonstrate financial need; a child six years of age or younger must be living in the home; and the home must be owner-occupied. Interested people should visit www.saverkids.org or call 602-631-4843.
