Donate Water to Save a Life

July 16, 2009

waterAs triple digit temperatures in the Valley continue to soar, individuals and families experiencing homelessness are at-risk of deadly exposure to scorching heat. Valley of the Sun United Way is partnering with the Homeless Awareness Coalition and local food banks to encourage Valley residents to donate water this summer.

In 2005, extreme heat conditions were responsible for the deaths of 32 homeless individuals. You can help avert a repeat of such tragedy by donating water at any of the following drop-off and collection sites listed below.

Additional water drop-off and collection sites can be found by visiting http://tiny.cc/Du9pv. Also, here is a link to download a map that includes ALL water drop-off and collection sites throughout Maricopa County: http://tiny.cc/ScM3j

Water collection helps support United Way’s community objective to End Hunger and Homelessness. For more information, please visit vsuw.org/our-work.
