Position Summary:

This position is responsible for the strategic oversight, implementation and management of affinity groups including Generation United and Women’s Leadership Council.   In addition, this position is responsible for increasing awareness about United Way’s engagement opportunities and working with volunteers and corporate partners to help execute affinity group and increase participation through events and volunteer opportunities.

 

Summary of Responsibilities:

·         Manage and execute all of VSUW’s affinity groups including Generation United and Women’s Leadership Council

·         Develop plan for future groups including, but not limited to, Retirees

·         Increase membership in existing affinity groups through long-term strategic planning, marketing, cultivation, recruitment and engagement strategies.

·         Develop a growth strategy to engage participants to give and move existing donors to higher giving levels

·         Solicit individuals to give to UW and join Affinity Groups; complete one on one meetings with donors and prospects

·         Work with the volunteers and corporate partners to increase awareness of, and membership in, the affinity groups.

·         Serve as liaison for the Resource Development team helping to secure, recognize and engage these affinity group donors within workforce giving campaigns.

·         Work with the Marketing team to produce all relevant collateral and communication tools to engage with and communicate with members

·         Participate in the development and execution of plans, procedures and processes to ensure recognition and long-term engagement of affinity group donors.

·         Track and monitor donor information

·         Staff, recruit, and orient affinity group committee volunteers; organize meetings, prepare materials, and draft minutes; and staff campaign cabinets.

·         Create and oversee an annual event calendar for all affinity group engagement efforts and opportunities. 

·                 Track engagement and touch point efforts and individual giving, and establish metrics to measure efforts and annual level of giving to determine correlation. 

·                 Provide leadership to the team to identify opportunities to educate corporate partners and prospects on affinity group offerings to connect the constituent with United Way. 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:

·         Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.

·         Five plus years experience in development/sales or project management

·         Non-profit experience a plus.

·         Demonstrated ability to work and function with confidential information and data.

 

Technical Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Requirements:

  • Computer literate with knowledge/experience in current Microsoft Office applications specifically Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to use the Internet and have a proven ability of working in a systems environment, with ability to learn and use new software and systems as required.

 

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work hours outside the standard Monday – Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM timeframe and to travel, if necessary. (will include some weekends)
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance, and access to personal vehicle.
