Position Summary: To provide leadership for the further development, implementation, integration and evaluation of Youth Community Objective Plan strategies, with a primary focus on the Maricopa County Afterschool Action Agenda. This position is responsible for overall project management including project planning, budget monitoring,contract management, convening, leading and managing VSUW Collaborative Partnerships.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Project Management

Implements community initiative actions
Assumes primary responsibility for Maricopa County Afterschool Action Agenda implementation that focuses on strengthening the system of youth development programs and improving outcomes for participating youth. -
Partners with Youth Team to implement initiatives focused on college and career readiness and youth transitioning from foster care.

Supports joint efforts of Children and Youth Plan implementation to ensure children and youth have early and sustained supports to prepare them for success in college, work and life.

Manages grant process for assigned investment partners.

Manages portfolio of investment partners, serves as agency liaison, provides technical assistance and engages partners in implementation of Youth Plan.

Manages volunteer committee through process of funding partner agencies to deliver on identified scope of work; serves as volunteer liaison, provides training and technical assistance, supports volunteer leadership.

Maintains familiarity with funded programs and all aspects of their interaction with VSUW.

Manages contracts including meeting contract deliverables, maintaining positive relationships with funding entities, oversight of subcontractors and coordination with Finance and Administration.

Provides accurate reports and meets project deadlines.

Coordinates weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting.

Ensures all partners are appropriately using data systems.

Coordinates Quality Improvement activities that support Community Impact strategies.

Coordinates training and community of learning for partners and subcontractors
Relationship Management
-
Works with key relationships to address critical issues and research based and innovative solutions.

Manages relationships with Arizona Center for Afterschool Excellence, youth development programs, school districts, government agencies and community based organizations.

Manages relationships with subcontractors.

Develops relationships with investment partner contacts.

Builds strong collaborative relationships to facilitate partnership in the creation and implementation of strategies.

Builds relationships with providers and advocates supporting positive youth development and cradle to career efforts.

Builds positive relationships with contractors, subcontractors and complementary service providers to maximize program impact.

Builds relationships with community stakeholders to effectively implement the Maricopa County Afterschool Action Agenda and other identified strategies in the Youth Plan
Communication

Communicates ideas clearly and effectively.

Serves as liaison to assigned agencies.

Serves on intradepartmental and interdepartmental teams.

Participates with community groups whose missions’ compliment that of VSUW and where such involvement enhances VSUW progress toward objectives.

Effectively presents information to team and external customers.

Communicates Youth Plan in framework of positive youth development, research based solutions, innovation and cradle to career concepts.

Acts as subject matter expert in areas of positive youth development and cradle to career concepts.

Communicates within logic model structure.

Conducts agency orientations, site visits and agency staff visits.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret training instructions.
Budget Management

Knowledgeable of the budgeting process and interpreting financial statements.

Assists in the collection and preparation of required budget information.

Manages budget, account reconciliations and budget forecasting for internal and external use.

Works within prescribed budget to manage programs and achieve objectives.
Analytical
-
Develops measurable solutions in partnership with internal and external resources.

Works collaboratively to develop, monitor and respond to both outcome-focused and program quality metrics.

Works with partners to develop strong logic models for funded programs.

Provides technical assistance to support partner agencies throughout investment processes.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements
-
Education and Experience: Bachelors Degree in Social Services, Nonprofit Management or closely related field.
-
Five years experience in Social Services, Nonprofit Management or related field.

Equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the knowledge and abilities to do the job.

Bilingual (Spanish) communications skills (oral and written) preferred.
Nonprofit Management
-
Is familiar with local, state and national government regulations for nonprofit organizations.
-
Working knowledge of nonprofit financial concepts, terms and regulatory forms.
-
Knowledge of effective volunteer engagement including recruiting, retention and recognition strategies.
Technical Skills
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Advanced knowledge of logic model framework for program design and outcome measurement.

Ability to research and locate information from the internet.

Ability to learn and use new software and systems as required.

Physical demands and work environment: Work is performed primarily in an office setting and while performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, and demonstrate manual dexterity. During specific times of the year, the employee is required to visit a variety of direct service settings across the community. Additional mobility is required during this activity. Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 25 pounds) during the course of the workday.
